Physics – Quizzes, yay! Standards based grading in the quiz category in physics is going well already, so that’s a thing.
Math – significant digits – I think I’ve finally found a way to contextualize these. We started off measuring the desks, and talked about what numbers carry information and which ones don’t. Lots of powerpoint slides of numbers in context (mass of the Sun, distances, world record race times) seemed to drive home better how some digits carry quantities, while some are merely place value.
